We are constantly looking for ways to improve our communication with you and keep everyone up-to-date and well informed.
In January 2018 we implemented School Gateway, an electronic school communication system, across all three Seaton Valley Federation schools. School Gateway enables you to receive all your information from school quickly and reliably.
We can send letters by email to your inbox and short messages directly to your mobile phone - and, if necessary, you can reply the same way too! If you have an Apple or Android mobile phone this is via a free app, for all other mobile phones this is via text message. You can also make payments through the app or online, as well as top up and view lunch account balances.
By registering on School Gateway, you can:
- receive letters more reliably and promptly
- see letters in your inbox like any other email
- get a short text or app message if we need to contact you urgently
- still get paper letters if you don’t have email
- see your child’s timetable for the current week
- stop relying on your child for delivery
- reply by email or text
- send us any reasons for absence via app, text or email
- top-up your son/daughter’s lunch account quickly and easily, as well as monitor their spending
- send more letters and information regarding your child/ren
- save money on admin time, printing and paper
- contact you urgently when necessary
The school will use the email address and mobile number that we hold for the Priority one contact(s) in our database. If you change your contact details please let the school know as soon as possible.
HOW TO DOWNLOAD THE FREE SCHOOL GATEWAY APP
Let us know your current mobile number and email address. We need both of these to communicate with you via School Gateway.
The School Gateway app set-up process is simple and just takes couple of minutes.
1. Search for “School Gateway” in the Apple App Store/Google Play or on your phone go to www.schoolgateway.com/apple (Apple) or www.schoolgateway.com/android (Android).
2. Install the app and if you are asked then say yes to “Allow Push Notifications”.
3. When you launch School Gateway for the first time, please select ‘New User’ and enter the email address and mobile telephone number you have registered with the school.
4. The system will send a PIN code to your phone; please enter this PIN code and the app will be activated for you.
As soon as you’ve got the system set up, all of the text messages we send you will appear in the app; you’ll receive notifications/alerts as normal.
