Year 13 biologists attended the ‘A Question of Taste’ workshop at the Life Science Centre on 2 April. During the workshop students analysed and replicated their own DNA to identify whether they have the bitter taste gene, PCT.

After a full day of using biotechnology techniques, such as PCR, electrophoresis and restriction enzymes digests, about half the class of  students identified that they had the PCT taste gene.
