Our catering teams are highly committed to serving healthy food and linking this to education and life skills to promote health.
All of our menus are nutritionally analysed according to government regulations for school lunches. We can cater for a range of special dietary needs, such as gluten free, allergies, diabetes, religious and ethnic diets and vegetarian.
We provide a morning break and lunchtime service for all of our schools.
Students can pre-order their choice, however please note that menus may be subject to change depending on the availability of ingredients.
We provide a rotating three-week lunch menu with a wide range of hot meals, snacks and refreshments.
School Lunch Menus and Tariffs
Paying for Food
We use a biometric cashless catering system which provides secure individual catering accounts for each child. Students that prefer not to use the biometric system will be issued with a cashless card instead.
You can top up your child's balance online via School Gateway, or add cash to your account using the machines located in the school halls and in WMS reception. Students entitled to free school meals have the set amount for a free school meal added to their account automatically.
We apply a daily limit to the amount a student can spend and parents can amend this limit if they choose.
Free School Meals
Students entitled to a free school meal make their choice from the menu in the same way as students who pay. The biometric cashless catering system is used by all students.
Parents/carers who receive qualifying benefits can apply to Northumberland County Council for free school meals here.
Food Allergen Labelling
We understand that people with food allergies have to be extremely careful about what they eat. Food labelling is therefore very important and we ensure that we display information about the common ingredients that may cause allergies in all the food we serve. We ask parents to notify the school of allergies that students have so we are aware of these. Students can ask any member of the catering team for more detailed information about possible allergens.
Food Hygiene
We received the highest possible Food Hygiene Rating of 5 (Very Good) at our last inspection by Northumberland County Council.
Feedback
We welcome feedback from students, staff and parents so that we can improve our service. Please contact the school if you would like to speak to the Catering Manager.
