As part of our Evolution and Inheritance topic in Year 6 Science, the children looked at how animals adapt for survival. Discovering that polar bears use fat to keep warm, the children tested this out by covering their hands in lard and placing them in ice cold water. The children soon found out that the lard insulated their hands when they compared it to their bare skin!
