Sixth Form Students were given an assembly by Izzy from Newcastle University on Student Finance where they heard about how to apply for finance through Student Finance Englandhttps://www.gov.uk/student-finance-register-login

They found out about how the Finance comes in two sections:

Tuition Fees which are paid directly to universities and cover the costs of each course.

Maintenance Loans are paid to students directly and should cover living costs, these are means tested based upon family income.

Izzy also shared information on other sources of finance such as grants, bursaries, allowances and scholarships that can be applied for in addition to Student Loans.

Izzy then spoke with students who had applied to Newcastle University and explained about the various types of accommodation that are available for first year students. She gave details on how much they cost, the amenities they offer and their proximity to the University campus.
