Last Friday night was the long-awaited return of the Thunder in the Valley basketball tournament. SSMS pupils, parents and staff arrived at the Vertu Motors Arena (home to the Newcastle Eagles) eager to take on the competition. Despite both teams playing their socks off we didn’t quite make the final, finishing in an impressive joint 3rd and 5th.
Following the tournament, everyone stayed behind to watch a tense match between the Eagles and the Surrey Scorchers. Unfortunately, they just missed out on a win with the final score being 74-79.
We couldn't be prouder of our basketball team: they were wonderful representatives of SSMS; behaviour, as always, was impeccable; and the pupils worked hard during the games showing we have a very talented team. Watch this space!
