Six pupils attended the Climate Friendly Schools conference at Newcastle Civic Centre on Tuesday 17th June with Mrs Cassidy and Mrs Hall.  They travelled sustainably to the conference on the Northern Line train from Seaton Delaval to Newcastle and then walked to the Civic Centre.

The Conference was an opportunity for the pupils to learn more about Climate Change and small but significant changes we can make across our school to start to make a difference to our planet. They also heard from other schools about their journey so far and some of the changes they have made in their schools, for example, installing a water but and reusing the rainwater to look after plants; growing their own herbs and fruit; making signs to remind people to switch off lights when not in use and many more interesting ideas.  They also created some climate superheros and discussed how they could help lessen our effects on climate change as well as ending the day learning about wind turbines and making their own floating wind turbine.  This involved some amazing problem solving discussions and teamwork.  Mrs Cassidy and Mrs Hall were very impressed and the pupils were extremely proud of themselves when the wind turbine floated for the first time!
