Earlier this year The Vindolanda Trust launched the 1900 Bunting Challenge.  The idea was the brainchild of Lynne Barber of Knot Unique with the aim of getting the public to crochet or knit 1900 flags (pattern designed by Lynne) to then put together as part of an exhibition at Vindolanda later this year in October.

The overall target is to celebrate 1900 years since the creation of Hadrian’s Wall.

Astley Community High School staff and students decided that they wanted to be part of this historic challenge and over the last 3 months have learnt to crochet and have made some bunting flags for the Hadrian’s Wall celebration.
